a kid
A young female goat is called a kid. They are typically born in the spring and summer months and weigh between 5 and 10 pounds at birth. Kids are very active and playful, and they love to run and jump around. They are also very curious animals and will often follow their mothers around to learn about their surroundings. Kids are weaned from their mothers around 3-4 months of age and can begin eating solid food. They mature quickly and can start breeding as early as 6 months old. Kids are important in the production of milk, meat, and fiber from goats.
